On Thursday 10th December 2009 a meeting was held at Nantyffin, RSPB Dinas Reserve, Rhandirmwyn to plan the way forward with the Twm Sion Cati project.  It involved representatives from Gwyl Twm Sion Cati, Countryside Council for Wales, RSPB, Carmarthenshire County Council, Llanfair-ar-y-bryn Community Council, Cilycwm Community Council, County Councillors Ivor Jackson and Tom Theophilus.  The meeting was chaired by Rhiannon Rowley.

Please see below a list of proposed projects for 2010.

1.    A  steering group has been formed which will next meet in the early spring of 2010. It is made up of representatives from Carmarthenshire County Council, the RSPB, CCW and interested parties from the local community.

2.    The steering group hope to negotiate with the RSPB about Nantyffin with the aim of using the building as a heritage and visitor centre. Ultimately it is hoped that this would be one of the ‘gateways’ to the Cambrian Mountains and a spur to regeneration of the Upper Tywi Valley.

3.    A  primary concern is ensuring that  this project is entirely sustainable, though we fully accept that it may be necessary to source some funding in the initial stages.

The work goes on and the stairs and safety barrier at the entrance to the cave are now in place. To imagine that six months ago this was just a dream. There is more as we still have the information board and carvings to be sited.

Carmarthenshire County Council staff are to be congratulated on this wonderful effort. All the timber has been carried a considerable distance by hand over difficult terrain.

On Sunday 5th July 2009 Huw Garan and Wil Theophilus entered the cave and found graffiti with the date 1729 on the cave wall.  This is the oldest date found so far.
